Localcom AI (OpenAI)

Great customer communication is consistent, clear, and on-brand — but staying that way through every conversation is hard. Localcom AI, powered by OpenAI, brings that help directly into the agent workflow. It suggests replies, polishes your drafts, and summarises long threads, so agents communicate effectively without losing their own voice.

Setup takes under a minute and the features are available immediately.

Connecting OpenAI

  1. Go to Settings → Applications → OpenAI and click Configure.
  2. Click Connect. A dialog asks for your OpenAI API key.
  3. Paste your key. You'll get your key from your OpenAI account under the API keys page on the OpenAI platform.

Once the key is accepted, you'll see a success confirmation.

The AI features

There are three AI-powered tools in the dashboard.

Reply suggestion with AI

Suggests a likely reply to a customer's message so you can respond quickly.

  1. Open a conversation that needs a reply. You'll see a Reply suggestion with AI option.
  2. Click it. The reply box fills with the suggested response.
  3. Edit it as you like, then send.

Improve with AI

Rewrites a draft you're already composing.

  1. Start typing a message. An Improve with AI option appears.
  2. Click it and pick a tone — professional or friendly — then click Generate.
  3. The AI rewrites your draft in that tone and drops it into the text box. Adjust and send.

Summary with AI

Condenses a whole conversation into a private note in seconds.

  1. Open a conversation and switch to the Private Note tab. You'll see a Summary with AI option.
  2. Click it. The editor fills with a summary of the thread.
  3. Edit if needed, then add the note.

Using AI Assist

You can open AI Assist from the command bar (++ctrl+k++) or with the AI Assist button inside the editor. Pick a feature, and the Reply Suggestion with AI panel opens with the generated content. Click Use this suggestion to drop it into the editor.

Common questions

Are the AI results always accurate? No. The suggestions are usually strong, but they aren't guaranteed correct. Always review and verify generated content before sending it to a customer.

Which AI provider is used? Localcom AI is built on OpenAI.

Keep your API key safe

Your OpenAI API key grants billed access to your OpenAI account. Treat it like a password — store it securely, never commit it to source control, and rotate it if you suspect it has leaked.
